Elementary ELL/Bilingual Teacher

Oklahoma City Public Schools invites applications for the following position: Elementary ELL/Bilingual Teacher Location: Mark Twain Elementary School School Year: 2025-2026 Position Summary: Create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s in education or a related field.Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Elementary Education in subjects listed below or subjects or Alternative Teaching Certification as approved by Oklahoma State Department of Education.Bilingual/Multicultural; English as a second Language strongly preferred. Non-ESL certified hires to be approved by the Director of Language & Cultural Services on a case-by-case basis and will have one year from date of hire to secure Oklahoma teaching certification in ESL/Bilingual Education and/or district supervised/approved ESL professional development hoursDemonstrable knowledge/background in Sheltered Instruction (SIOP/SDAIE) and Second Language Acquisition.Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students and provide for their academic well-being and success. Must possess ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in TESOL.
