Our values of excellence, integrity, respect, and innovation guide everything we do.Position Summary:The IB Spanish Teacher will deliver high-quality instruction for the Diploma Programme (DP) Spanish curriculum, fostering language acquisition, cultural awareness, and critical thinking skills in students. The ideal candidate is passionate about language education, experienced with IB standards, and committed to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment.Key Responsibilities:Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the IB DP Spanish curriculum, incorporating inquiry-based learning and global perspectives.Assess and evaluate student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, ensuring alignment with IB standards.Support students in developing strong communication skills in Spanish, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.Guide students in understanding cultural nuances and perspectives associated with Spanish-speaking countries.Prepare students for IB DP internal and external assessments, including oral examinations and written papers.Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth.Collaborate with colleagues to align instructional practices and contribute to the broader IB programme.Participate in school events, professional development opportunities, and ongoing curriculum review and development.Foster a positive classroom culture that encourages curiosity, respect, and academic excellence.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Teaching certification recognized in an English-speaking country.Must be hold, or be eligible for, a valid BC Certificate of Qualification or Independent School, Subject Restricted Qualification Proven experience teaching IB DP Spanish or similar advanced-level Spanish courses.Strong understanding of IB philosophy, assessment practices, and learner profile attributes.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.Ability to integrate technology and a differentiated approach into the classroom to enhance learning outcomes.Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and strong proficiency in English is required.Advanced or near-native fluency in French considered an asset.Experience working in an international or multicultural school setting is an asset.Hours of Work:Full-time teaching position aligned with the academic calendar.Additional hours required for parent meetings, IB training, and school events.Must be support extra-curricular programs such as Student Residence or Enrichment.The IB Spanish Teacher at UNISUS School plays a critical role in developing students' linguistic and cultural competencies, preparing them for success in a globalized world while embodying the values and mission of the IB programme.
