Grade 5/6 Teacher RequiredFor the 2025-2026 academic school year Starting in SeptemberFort Severn, Ontario Wasaho Cree Nation Elementary School invites applicants for a Grade 5/6 Teacher. The classroom is usually under 20 students (even when combined). Must be a qualified teacher;Must follow the prescribed curriculum of Ministry of Education for Ontario;Must be committed to completing the teaching contracted year;Must be willing to include family and community members in classroom activities;Must be willing to implement First Nations culture into curriculum;Must have a working knowledge of Canadian First Nations cultures and history;Must have respect and be sensitive to First Nations Traditional Values and Culture;Must have high standards and expectations for academic achievement, especially in the areas of literacy and numeracy;Must have excellent classroom management skills and ability in utilizing positive classroom management strategies;Must have experience with behaviorally difficult students;Must accommodate and include special needs children by adjusting teaching styles and curriculum as required for inclusion.Only serious candidates need apply. How to Apply: Candidates must provide a resume with at least three references, two of which should be related to recent teaching positions;Candidates should be a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers or equivalent;Must have an Ontario Teaching Certificate. Candidates must provide a criminal record check at the time of hire; Candidates must submit a Cover Letter describing: Why they wish to teach indigenous children; and Their experience and/or their suitability teaching in a remote indigenous community.
