Wakâ Mne Elementary1 Position: Elementary Physical Education Teacher Wakâ Mne Elementary school is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Physical Education Teacher to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year, with a start date in May 2025. We are looking for a teacher who can build on the current strengths of our school and is focused on providing a balanced education through the delivery of approved curriculum that is grounded in traditional Alexis Nakota Sioux teachings.Our student population is approximately 139 from K to 6, our Native language is Nakota (Stoney) and we are located 60 minutes northwest of the City of Edmonton and 30 minutes from the City of Spruce Grove. The successful applicant will begin duties at the commencement of the 2024-2025 school year; a competitive salary based on qualification, skill and experience will be paid.Applications will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. Application reviews will begin as soon as possible. Major Responsibilities include:Following the prescribed program of studies for each subject taught.Plan and execute daily lessons based on short, medium and long range planning.Provide feedback to students and parents/guardians in a regular, timely manner.Champion Stoney language/culture revitalization and curriculum infusion.Support school-parent/guardian-community engagement.Possess strong interpersonal skills and commit to collaborative-decision making.Promote differentiated instruction to meet diversity in learning needs.Instruct students in physical fitness, sports, and other physical activities, promoting healthy habits and attitudes towards physical activity.Supervise extracurricular activities and collaborate with other educators to support students' overall health Qualifications:Must be able to provide a TQSMust hold or be able to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.Preference will be given to those with experience teaching High Needs StudentsQualified newly graduating individuals will be considered.Must possess a Bachelors of Education degree from an accredited institution;Must be respectful of Nakota Sioux Traditions, Knowledge and Customs;Preference is given to those with experience working with First Nations Children and Families;Must have a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check.Preferred Skills:Coaching CertificateFirst Aid CertificateBackground in music
