Trades and Shop Teacher / InstructorThe Sahtu Divisional Education Council in the heart of the Northwest Territories invites you to join our team of educators dedicated to growing forward together. We are seeking a Trades / Shop Teacher who can connect with adolescents and young adults by imparting a variety of trades skills and real-world job connections to the learning happening in the classroom and workshop. Shop and workplace safety, carpentry and construction trades are the initial focus, with the expectation that other trades be introduced based on the instructor’s skillset and experience.A one-year term is available, but a second semester start will also be considered.Community: Fort Good Hope, Chief T’Selehye SchoolTerm: First and/or Second SemesterSalary: Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications and ranges from $95,232 - $153,748 per annum, plus an attractive benefits package including a Northern Living Allowance of $27,329 and relocation expenses. Equivalencies in education and experience will be assessed by the NWT Teacher Qualification Service to determine placement on the GNWT/NWTTA salary grid.Candidates must have completed a Bachelor of Education Degree and be eligible for a Northwest Territories Teaching Certificate. However, equivalent combinations of education and experience in industrial arts and trades will be considered. Applications from qualified journeypersons with experience in teaching contexts are highly encouraged.   A vulnerable sector check is a requirement.
