If so, consider bringing your culinary expertise to this position where your primary role will be to prepare, cook and serve nutritious and appetizing meals.About the jobWhat can I expect to do in this role?In this role you will:• Prepare a wide variety of foods through standard volume cooking methods, ensuring adherence to prescribed menus, works schedules and dietary charts.• Maintain cleanliness of food services area, equipment/utensils.• Assist in the receiving and stocking of food items.• Assist with inventory of supplies.• Perform other duties related to the operation of a large school cafeteria.• Ability to work on-call hours as requiredWhat you bring to the teamKnowledge and Experience:• You have thorough knowledge of food preparation, storage techniques/procedures and proper kitchen equipment operations, normally acquired through completion of a post-secondary education in chef/cook training course or related work experience.• Completed Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to obtain.• You have demonstrated experience in institutional cooking methods and procedures, especially in large volume cooking.• You have experience operating commercial/institutional food preparation equipment.• You know nutritional principles to assist in planning menus.Communication and Interpersonal Skills:• You have excellent communication skills including the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.• You have the ability to work independently and as a team member.Physical Work• You have the ability to work shifts and perform physical work.Don't meet every qualification?If you are excited about this position and meet most, but not all, of the listed qualifications, please still consider applying.
