The Dean is an advocate for students, prioritizing student success, safety and support. The Dean provides strategic leadership for a broad range of student programs and activities, including Accessibility Services, Counselling Services, LearnersÂ’ Assistance, and Financial Aid and Awards. The Dean is a member of UCNÂ’s Senior Academic Leadership Team and the Strategic Leadership Team. The Dean provides vision, strategic and operational leadership to the Office of the Dean of Students and which contributes to Student Success and to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. The Dean is responsible for aligning UCNÂ’s strategic priorities, direction, vision, and administration to those within the Office of the Dean of Students. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS• MasterÂ’s degree in Social Work or Education; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.• Leadership experience in education and/or social work settings.• Knowledge and experience with providing student support services, including student engagement, student conduct, student case management, sexual and gender-based violence, crisis management, and risk assessment.• Leadership experience and ability to create an environment that engages and inspires staff and fosters innovation.• Experience working effectively with Indigenous peoples and northern residents.• Experience leading process/quality continuous improvement and providing solutions to challenges.• Ability to understand diversity, cultural influences, and issues specific to learners in northern and Indigenous communities. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.• Effective time management skills.• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.• Knowledge and experience managing budgets.• Knowledge of change management principles and experience managing change.• Commitment to life-long learning. ASSETS: • Ph.D. in Social Work of Education Conditions of Employment:• Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada Applicants are asked to provide a cover letter and resume with their application.
