Kipohtakaw Education Centre is a K-12 school with over 300 students with a strong focus on Cree langauge and cultural programming. We have educational assistants for almost every class with one on one EA's. We implement a restorative approach to discipline with a great team of support, including a wellness team, land based education, Elders program and our own locally developed history curriculum (to name a few). We also have a VP for elementary and a VP for jr/sr high. Alexander First Nation Education, located 40 minutes northwest of Edmonton, is currently seeking potential candidates for the following position:The Success Coach is a part of a School-based team providing mentoring/coaching services and supports to children and youth at Kipohtakaw Education Centre.  The Coach will work alongside school staff, community program staff and families to promote success for students.  Minimum Education Requirements:Education or Social Work Degree preferred but will accept a diploma from social sciences field. Duties and Responsibilities:1.          Provide one on one support for students.2.          Provide group facilitation.3.          Collaborate with community workers to deliver wellness programs.4.          Plan and develop prevention and intervention programs to address specific needs.5.          Provide immediate support and intervention during times of crisis or emergency.6.          Nurtures collaborative linkages with the community partners, parent/caregivers, teachers, school staff and administrators.7.          Connect students with mental health services and healthcare providers as needed.8.          Collaborate with our Wellness team.9.          Assist students with developing coping mechanisms, social skills, conflict resolution skills and anger management techniques.10.      Follow AFNE’s staff protocol and Code of Ethics as outlined in AFNE’s policy manual. 11.      Assume all other duties as assigned by supervisor.12.      Assist in the preparation delivery of programs particularly those involving local content, Cree language and cultural programming.13.      Plan, develop and participate to promote Cree, history and cultural community events.
