This visionary leader will cultivate a forward-thinking environment and create an outstanding education program that includes pedagogies which support an interdisciplinary approach that sparks curiosity and builds confidence in a joyful, supportive, and inclusive all-girls setting.  The Principal is responsible for mentoring and leading a dynamic team, meticulously managing budgets, and diligently enforcing policy to cultivate a safe, supportive, and exceptional learning environment for every student. As part of the Senior Leadership Team the Principal will collaborate closely with other school leaders to advance the school’s strategic vision. Who You Are:An experienced educator with the equivalent of a Master’s degree in Education and several years’ experience in school leadership, including a proven record of outstanding achievement as a classroom teacher and leader10+ years teaching experience and 5+ years leading in a Junior School setting (Vice Principal or Principal)Vision and the ability to think strategically and realize vision in conjunction with the BSS vision, mission and valuesA deep understanding of leading and implementing a responsive and rigorous education within the framework of contemporary (21st century) skills and technologies aligned to the Ontario curriculumThe ability to inspire faculty to ensure that their programs surpass the Ontario curriculum expectations Demonstrated deep knowledge of and commitment to inquiry-based pedagogiesWhat You’ll Do:Provides visionary leadership for the Junior School (JK-Grade 6), aligning with the school's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic plan.Oversees the Junior School academic program to ensure excellence, rigour and alignment with the Ontario Curriculum, the Culture of Powerful Learning and the Signature of a BSS Girl.Understands and supports the use of inquiry including awareness of and appreciation for principles of the Reggio Emilia approach.  Identifies strategic opportunities for innovation, including research, trends and educational disruptions and stays abreast of current educational research, particularly in girls' education and early childhood development, to inform program enhancements.Participates as a member of the Senior Leadership Team in setting the strategic direction of the school.Working with the Dean of Teaching and Learning, manages staff allocations, timetables, and resource allocation within the Junior School to optimize learning across all subject areas.Manages the Junior School budget responsibly and strategically.Enforces school policies and procedures. and collaborates with SLT on whole school policy development.Collaborates to ensure that a smooth alignment exists between the Junior and Middle and Senior Schools.Contributes to the Student Enrolment Management processes.Oversees the Junior School Vice Principal in planning and executing day-to-day school operations, leading Ontario curriculum delivery and classroom activities, guiding student life programming, and ensuring adherence to the Code of Conduct.Oversees the Dean of Student Well-being to ensure the creation and implementation of a progressive, comprehensive, and innovative Student Well-being program and a strategic framework that aligns with the School’s Mission, Vision, and Values to support and strengthen the social-emotional well-being of all students.Ensures the Junior School Athletic Director has a comprehensive athletic co-curricular program in place that enriches learning and provides diverse opportunities for exploration, leadership, and physical personal growth.Why Work at BSS?At BSS, we value and recognize the following core competencies in our employees; trust and integrity, collaboration, flexibility and adaptability, initiative, community focused and strong communication skills.
