Mental Health Therapist/School Counsellor

Mental Health Therapist Muscowpetung Education Center  Muscowpetung Education Center (MEC) is currently looking for a qualified Mental Health Therapist to come in to the school on a 60 % time basis to provide mental health supports for students. The position is funded through Jordans Principal and offers a competitive salary. MEC is a K-12 school with approximately 110 students and is situated 60 km east of Regina in the scenic Qu’Appelle Valley.   DutiesThe Mental Health Therapist, under supervision of the School Principal, will have duties that include:·      Intake and Assessments·      Meeting with  parents/ caregivers·      Provide direct culturally appropriate counseling to First Nation students·      Provide regularly scheduled individual and group counselling sessions.·      Provide crisis intervention·      Provide community mental health and wellness awareness workshops·      Maintain a caseload and complete counselling files·      Participate in treatment planning for children & youth on assigned caseload.·      Prepare reports as requiredAttend collaboration meetingsMust be able to work in-person 3 days a week. Skills and qualifications:·      Bachelor degree in SW or equivalent.·      2  years experience or more·      Registered in good standing by a Provincial/Territorial legislated regulatory body responsible for the licensing of mental health counselling professionals or equivalent.·      Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).·      Proven ability to work with First Nations communities and schools·      Completed CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check requiredPosition open until filled.
