Job Details Peawanuck (Weenusk First Nation) is a fly-in community and is the second most Northern in Ontario adjacent to the Hudson Bay coast. Mah-Tah-Ha-Mao School is located in this Omushkegowuk Cree community with classes from JK – Grade 8. We are looking for a full-time Teacher for the grade 7/8 class. If you love helping your students succeed and willing to do so in a First Nation community, you’ll fit right in at Mah-Tah-Ha-Mao school. We welcome applications of recent graduates. About usMah-Tah-Ha-Mao school is situated in the community of Peawanuck with a population of about 300 overlooking the Weenusk River, a small but beautiful community with a vast landscape. Our annual visitors consists of polar bears and wolves during certain times of the seasons. If you love a beautiful scenery and trail walks, Peawanuck is the right place for you to teach. Responsibilities Create, deliver, and score subjects, assignments, homework, and tests accordingly.Manage classroom according to Mah-Tah-Ha-Mao School rules and regulations.Monitor student behaviours and create plans as needed for students who require extra support. Provide encouragement, support, and advice as needed to students.Adjust teaching strategies based on student performance in the classroom.Maintain and update all records and files for students as needed.Work with Educational Assistants to ensure student success.Apply cultural Cree concepts as needed.Qualifications Registered with Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).Certified by an accredited University (BA/BED/Teacher training program).Excellent classroom management skills.Knowledge of and writing, revising, and applying Individual Education plans.Experience teaching in multi-grade classrooms.Experience teaching in a First Nation School.Ability to speak Cree or have knowledge of is an asset.Special Education qualifications is an asset.Friendly, empathetic personality.Respectful of First Nation Cultures & History.   Benefits Salary range $80,000+ or depending on experience.Annual allowance Health benefits.Northern living allowance.Access to Weenusk Education vehicles.Private Accommodations, Rent free.Excess freight airline cargo allowance.Paid sick days.Paid return airline travel to and from place of employment (Ex.
