Academic Teacher - English 20, 30

This position is a Term Contract for semester 1 of the 2025-2026 school year commencing August 27, 2025, through to January 27, 2026, with an option of possible renewal on a yearly basis based on performance. The assignment is teaching English 20-1/-2 (one 80-minute period daily), and English 30-1/-2 (one 80-minute period daily) for a total FTE of 0.30 during the fall semester. PURPOSE: The Academic Teacher instructs in a manner that recognizes every student as competent, intelligent and creative.  The teacher is expected to meet the legal obligations and responsibilities of the School Act, Alberta Ballet School policies, and corporate safety regulations and procedures, while adhering to the teaching Professional Code of Conduct. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Education and hold an Alberta Teaching Certificate In-depth knowledge of the discipline and the teaching of English  Experience teaching English 30-1 would be an asset Facility with technology and its possibilities for enhancing learning  Ability to handle a fast-paced environment  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  Employment is subject to successful completion of a Police Background and Vulnerable Sectors Check  Responsibilities: Provide instruction based on Teacher Quality Standards in the province of Alberta Understand and actualize a rich and rigorous curriculum while utilizing the Alberta program of studies as a guide  Create and nurture an intellectual learning environment  Evaluate students and report the results to students, parents/guardians   Carry out related duties that are assigned by the Academic Principal or the Alberta Ballet School such as, and not limited to, supervision on campus and students attending or participating in activities sponsored or approved by the School of Alberta Ballet
