The school has a population of approximately 226 students in a K-6 setting with a staff of 27. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.Required qualifications:Bachelor of Education degreeEligible for Nunavut Teaching CertificateMinimum 5 years experience as a classroom teacherDesired qualifications:Graduate training in Educational AdministrationExperience with school time tabling and programming to meet student needsGraduate training in Literacy and Assessment strategies consistent with Balanced LiteracyExperience working successfully with a local education authorityExperience in the use of educational software to maintain student records and record assessmentsExperience in leading a school team to accommodate diverse learning needsSuccessful leadership of school improvement initiativesDemonstrated ability to plan effectively on both short and long term to deploy school resourcesExperience in the site management of school resourcesDemonstrated effective communication in all formatsExperience working successfully in a cross-cultural learning environmentDemonstrated ability to mediate conflict and promote consensus among stakeholdersPlease note: Subsidized housing is not available.The salary for certified teachers ranges from $82,003 prorated/annum. to $128,579 prorated/annum.
