We are one of Manitoba’s Top Employers and offer a generous Total Compensation Package with health benefits, a great pension plan along the opportunity for personal and professional growth including tuition waivers. DUTIES:Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Student Mental Wellness & Recovery Practitioner provides a broad range of mental health services through the provision of direct clinical services, consultation services and professional and public education to the UCN community. The Student Mental Wellness & Recovery Practitioner strives to make mental health an institutional priority by promoting mental well-being and enhancing services available to students. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor of Social Work or Registered Psychiatric Nurse; a directly related equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered• Several years’ experience providing mental health services including case management, crisis counselling, short-term counselling and wellness planning• Experience providing mental health services relating to the intergenerational effects of residential schools and colonialism• Knowledge of various counselling modalities• Knowledge of crisis response best practices• Strong knowledge of community resources• Ability to relate to students, staff and faculty in ways that builds confidence and trust in supporting and enhancing student well-being• Ability to provide services that are responsive and suitable to the needs of specific student populations including those who identify as Indigenous, racialized and/or persons of a minority sexual orientation and/or gender identity.• Effective and culturally relevant communication and interpersonal skills• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills• Strong time management and organizational skills• Proficient computer skills and ability to use information technology effectively• Commitment to life-long learning ASSETS:• Masters of Social Work• Ability to speak an indigenous language• Previous experience working in a post-secondary environment • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures Conditions of Employment:• Valid Class 5 Drivers License with the ability to travel throughout the year• An active membership with the Manitoba College of Social Workers or active Certificate of Practice from the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba in good standing• Completion of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) within 6 months of hire • Completion of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certificate within 6 months of hire• Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry Applicants are asked to provide a cover letter and resume with their application.
