We are a team of 600 staff who provide quality teaching and learning experiences for approximately 5400 students.  Position OverviewAssist students and meet with the school planning team in following programs, strategies and materials identified/developed and introduced by the teacher, specialized teams and District leadsProvide feedback to the supervisory Teacher on his/her observations of studentsAssist with large group activities and work with small groups or individual students  Ideal Candidate QualitiesAble to establish rapport with students who present with physical, emotional and learning disabilities who come from different linguistic and cultural backgroundsKnowledge of behavior management and positive reinforcement and the ability to utilize behavior management techniques according to established guidelinesEffective interpersonal and communication skills Desired QualificationsEducational Assistant certificate or diploma preferredMust be willing to assist students with feeding, toileting and personal hygieneExperience working with children with special needs in an organized setting is preferredOther combinations of applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform the position may be considered Starting compensation will be as per the collective agreement is $22.26/hr with a generous benefit package included. A recent Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check will be required if you are the successful applicant.
