Summary This position is located at the Child Development Center, West Point, NY. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees)} Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours). About the Stony Child Development Center (CDC). The Stony Child Development Center (CDC) is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Combined with Army standards and regulations, NAEYC guides the CDC program towards the highest quality of care for your children. CDC classrooms are mixed age groups consisting of 6 weeks to 18 months, 16 months - 36 months, preschool and a separate pre-kindergarten program. As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 31 December 2026.Major Duties: Serves as a Child and Youth Services (CYS) Assistant Director of a CYS Program with responsibility for assisting the supervisor in the operation of an assigned CYS program IAW all applicable regulations and standards. Provides program oversight and accountability for the performance of assigned staff and the safety and well being of children and youth IAW DoD, Army and local policies and standards. Assists in maintaining DoD/Army certification for assigned program areas, and helps ensure program achieves and retains national accreditation or Army equivalent and maintains accreditation/Army equivalent standards. Provides appropriate staff professional recognition and/or disciplinary action. Conducts written observations of staff during all hours of operation, and evaluates employees based on established performance standards. Works cooperatively with other CYS Managers to ensure seamless service and continuity of quality options for all children and youth. Serves as member of the CYS Program Plan Team to develop written strategies for program improvement.
