Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority 153 South Industrial Drive Prince Albert, SK S6V 7L7Phone: (306) 922-9830Fax: (306) 922-9838 Elementary Teacher - Grade 5 (Full-Time Position) The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is seeking a competent, confident, motivated individual to fill the position of Grade Five (5) Teacher at Father Megret Elementary School, located in Hatchet Lake, Saskatchewan. In this role, you will provide strong interpersonal skills, commitment to learning and teaching in project-based ways, and provide an enthusiastic learning environment for students. The ADEA is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,400 students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum.  This competition is open to all applicants who reside in Canada; and preference will be given to First Nation or other Indigenous applicants who possess the qualifications, knowledge, and skills to meet the minimum suitability requirements as stated for the position. What We Offer:We offer an exciting opportunity for you to teach. In addition to following the provincial teacher's salary grid we provide subsidized housing and a northern allowance.  You will be surrounded by leaders and colleagues that want the best for each student in their learning and well-being. Key Accountabilities and ResponsibilitiesBe aware of any allergy’s children may have.Establish clear instructional direction to support a positive learning climate in the context of the Denesuline culture and language.Offer children the opportunity to interact with peers and learn social skills, learn school routines, and build a strong foundation for further success in school.Plan and organize materials ahead of time so when the children arrive, the room and the Educators are ready to engage with children.Provide positive ways for family engagement for learning success and provide a welcoming space that draws parents into the classroom.Assess and document student learning daily.Cleaning protocols such as: all centre and tabletop materials that are reusable are to be cleaned following the covid protocols. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be patient, flexible, observant, and passionate.Must have communications skills such as: verbal and nonverbal, active listening, and empathy.Must have strong understanding of the following programs and assessments: Effective Practices, Policies and Guidelines; Saskatchewan Curriculum.To follow the provincial Ministry of Education curricula and focus on holistic child development, including the social-emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual domains.Actively engage with families, children, and community members to understand their backgrounds and experiences to support an equitable and inclusive school environment.Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents and community.Maintain confidentiality of students and other professional information Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent.Must be eligible for or posses a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.Minimum of one year experience working with children. Experience in teaching First Nations students at a remote community would be an asset.First Aid Certification would be an asset Related training or experience in the field of education would be a definite asset.  If you are interested in applying for the above position, please submit the following:Resume (3 references included)Cover Letter (Attention: Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority - Hiring Lead)Most recent Criminal Police Record Check/Child Vulnerable Sector Check Please submit your application to this link: https://adeask.bamboohr.com/careersand click on 'Elementary Teacher - Grade 5' position Only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted further.
