The Technology Integration and Technical Operations Manager serves as a proactive change leader, and is responsible for coaching and guiding the members of the Technical Operations team and working with teachers to enhance the use of technology for educational purposes. This position works across the school to implement the York House technology plan. ResponsibilitiesLead, coach, and mentor the Technical Operations team consisting of the Technology & Audio Video Specialist and two Junior Analysts, fostering a culture of service, collaboration, and professional growth among its members.Serve as a key member of the department's leadership team, collaborating closely with peer leads for infrastructure and data analytics to ensure that all technical functions are seamlessly integrated and aligned with strategic goals.Collaborate with Education Technology Coordinator and the tech team to implement the technology plan (developed by Director of Technology and Innovation) with all stakeholders and provide high standards of support, effective operations and digital literacy.Partner with faculty and the Director of Technology and Innovation to explore and support the pedagogical integration of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and Virtual/Augmented Reality.Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with educational technology organizations, vendors, and peer schools to create value-added relationships, professional development opportunities, and innovative new programs.Continuously evaluate emerging K–12 educational technology trends, instructional strategies, and research to inform practice.Assess skill level of current staff and students with respect to technology and recommend appropriate training based on areas identified.Provide and develop learning resources for faculty and students. This may include tutorials, manuals, websites and other interactive programs.Organize and lead training sessions for technology professional developmentWork with database administrators of a variety of departments to maintain the integrity of the school’s information. Support stakeholders who use Blackbaud school operations software (report cards, transcripts, parent/teacher interviews, admissions, and timetabling software).Collaborate with the department's data analytics lead to ensure data middleware and integrations effectively meet the school's operational and reporting needs.Explore and implement automation workflows (e.g., using tools like n8n) to improve the efficiency and reliability of departmental and school-wide operational processes.Maintain and use auditing systems for increasing visibility and accountability.Chair the Daily Operational Stand-up and participate in the Weekly Tactical & Project Review to ensure the team's work is aligned with departmental priorities.Act as a key technical representative in the Quarterly Pedagogical Integration Meeting and the Quarterly Data Governance Group, providing operational context and ensuring user needs are met.Provide oversight for the upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting of IT software systems that house private and confidential student, parent, donor and employee data within operational databases that support Finance, Advancement, and Human Resources (in close collaboration with the department’s infrastructure lead).Communicate with the wider community on issues of technology literacy, following the YHS Technology plan with the input of others.Work with the Director of Technology and Innovation to review and provide input to policies for technology use for staff and students including ensuring that users supported are following the relevant acceptable use policy.Participate in developing budgets for academic and administrative software, hardware, and services.Manage operations of the theatre and other specialized areas of the school, and develop systems, policies, procedures, and training for the operation of these facilities.Attend ISABC Director of Technology meetings on behalf of the Director when required.Oversee student groups, including the student theatre/technology club.Fulfill other duties as assigned. QualificationsA minimum of four years related work experience.Strong managerial skills.Demonstrated leadership skills.Knowledge of teaching and coaching techniques and curriculum development.Ability to stay current and research new instructional technologies.Strong technology skills in up-to-date computer software, including student information and learning management systems (preferably Blackbaud), Google Workspace, Raiser’s Edge, digital video and editing, image processing, internet streaming, Mac environment, etc.Familiarity with modern infrastructure concepts, including Linux-based systems, containerization, and private cloud platforms, is required to effectively collaborate with and manage projects involving specialist team members.Experience using a variety of classroom, theatre, and end-user hardware and software platforms and technology tools.Previous experience in leadership roles and supervision of technology teams up to 5Independent school experience is an asset.Demonstrated understanding of, or experience with, the pedagogical integration of AI in a K-12 setting.Experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) is a strong asset.Familiarity with private cloud platforms (e.g., OpenStack) and automation tools (e.g., n8n) is an asset.Experience with integrating VR/AR technologies in an educational setting is an asset.Software project management installation experience is an asset.Experience with K-12 aged students is an asset.Bachelor’s degree/diploma in computer science or related area of study highly preferred.Qualities Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with a wide variety of stakeholders with a coaching mindset.Results-driven with the ability to set and meet ambitious targets.Strong project management skills; formal training or certification (e.g., PMP) is a strong asset.A broad general education and dedication to lifelong learning.A strong work ethic, high ethical standards, self confidence. Strong interpersonal and time management skills.Demonstrated collaboration and problem solving skills.A strategic partner and pedagogical innovator.
