This year Heart Lake First Nation has added middle school programming and requires a fulltime teacher for grade 6-9 Language Arts and Senior High English. The teacher will foster critical literacy, creative expression, and thoughtfulengagement with a wide range of texts, while collaborating closely with colleagues to ensure coherenceand alignment with the goals of schooling for Heart Lake First Nation.Key Responsibilities:Lead Powerful Learning聽茂聜路 Develop short- and long-term English Language Arts curriculum plans aligned with AlbertaPrograms of Study and the Virtual Learning System.茂聜路 Design and deliver rich, inquiry-based, and concept-driven learning experiences that engagestudents with a variety of literary, informational, and media texts.茂聜路 Explicitly teach reading comprehension strategies, writing processes, oral communication skills,and critical literacy.茂聜路 Support students in developing voice, clarity, and accuracy in written and oral expression.茂聜路 Integrate diverse texts and perspectives to promote inclusion, empathy, and global awareness.茂聜路 Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs and learning profiles, includingintervention and enrichment.茂聜路 Use a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to assess literacy skills, thinking,and communication.茂聜路 Analyze student work and assessment data to inform instructional decisions and supportstudent growth.Build Strong Relationships & A Respectful Classroom Environment茂聜路 Foster a positive classroom culture grounded in respect, belonging, curiosity, and highexpectations.茂聜路 Support student well-being, confidence, perseverance, and language development in learning.茂聜路 Apply consistent classroom organization and management practices that promote engagement,safety, and learning.茂聜路 Maintain clear, respectful, and professional communication with students and families.茂聜路 Build strong partnerships with families in support of student learning and success.Contribute to Kohl聮s School茂聜路 Work collaboratively with colleagues in professional learning communities and team structures.茂聜路 Contribute to a culture of respect, collaboration, and shared accountability, and continuousimprovement.茂聜路 Actively engage in creating and sustaining a vibrant, connected, school community, includingattending, supporting, and contributing 聽to school initiatives, community events, extra- and co-curricular activities.茂聜路 Model professionalism aligned with First Nation values and Alberta Teaching Quality Standards.Required Qualifications:茂聜路 Bachelor of Education;茂聜路 Eligible for or in possession of an Alberta Teaching Certificate or Alberta Interim TeachingCertificate;茂聜路 Fluent mastery in English, written and oral communication;茂聜路 Valid first-aid certification or willingness to become certified;Preferred Assets:茂聜路 Experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle or secondary level;茂聜路 Experience with First Nation Traditions and Culture茂聜路 Experience with inquiry-based and concept-driven pedagogy;茂聜路 Demonstrated use of instructional technology to enhance literacy learning;Compensation:茂聜路 Salaries competitive with provincial school authorities;茂聜路 Benefits to staff such as a four day school week, travel allowance and rental assistance.
