We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Security Guard to support safety and security at Joe A . Ross School and Oscar Lathlin Collegiate. Position SummaryThe Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves monitoring school facilities, responding to incidents, enforcing school policies, and promoting a positive and respectful school culture. The Security Guard will work closely with school administration, staff, and the community, and will report directly to the Operations, Maintenance & Transportation Manager. Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor school entrances, hallways, grounds, and surrounding areas to ensure safety.Maintain a visible presence t o deter inappropriate behaviors or unauthorized activities.Respond promptly t o safety concerns, incidents, o r emergency situations.Enforce school rules, policies, and safety procedures respectfuly and consistently. April 2, 2026Support conflict de-escalation and assist with student behavioral incidents when required.Complete incident reports, logs, and documentation as needed.Work collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, and student support teams.Participate i n emergency drills and safety planning.• Maintain confidentiality and uphold OES values and protocols. Qualifications• High school diploma o r equivalent.• Security Guard training and valid Manitoba Security Guard License (or willingness t o obtain).• Previous experience i n security, school support, o r community safety is an asset.• Strong communication, de-escalation, and interpersonal skills.• Ability t o remain calm and professional in stressful situations.• Cultural awareness and sensitivity t o working in a First Nations education environment.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.• Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.• School-based environment a t Joe A. Ross School and Oscar Lathlin Collegiate.• Interaction with students, staff, families, and community members.• Shift work may be required depending on school needs.
