CHS is seeking a Learning Strategies Coordinator to support students with learning needs and to coordinate the work of the other learning strategists.As an Learning Strategist/Inclusive Education Teacher, you are an expert in your field. As an experienced, knowledgeable and progressive specialist, you are able to support all kinds of learners. In particular, you are confident in supporting learners using approaches that are reflective of the way in which girls learn. You bring innovative solutions to learning challenges experienced by students. You optimize the resources available to you. Balanced with supporting students, you mentor teachers in understanding learning challenges experienced by the students in their classes and guide them toward strategies that ultimately support all learners.As the Learning Resource Program Coordinator, you provide guidance and oversight to this program and support a team of Learning Strategists to be effective and current in their roles. You provide organizational leadership to the day-to-day operations of Learning strategies and guidance to the development of the program as a whole. You also support the whole faculty in developing their understanding and their classroom practice around inclusive education and meeting the needs of diverse learners.Students, members of your department, colleagues, and parents find you to be approachable, knowledgeable, genuine and supportive. In addition to spending an engaging day with students who are genuinely interested in learning, thinking, and playing, teachers are provided with the gift of time as part of their daily schedule to plan and work collaboratively with others.Responsibilities of the Learning Strategies Coordinator:â Promote a collegial teaching and learning environment with and beyond the team of Learning Strategists by assisting the coordination of the learning resource programâ Oversee the IEP process including the engagement of teachers and parents and documentationâ Oversee the Essential Learning Plan process for students and assign case managers as neededâ Oversee concussion managementâ Collaborate with the Personal Counselors regarding students with H and R designations along with other students as neededâ Facilitate meetings between students, parents, and Senior School teachersâ Collaborate with teachers to assist in their understanding and ability to support students with learning needs in their classesâ Manage the Ministry provided budget for designated studentsâ Support constructive engagement of parents in the curricular programâ Oversee staffing for the after school support program to ensure daily coverageâ Oversee TPGP process with designated colleaguesâ Lead and implement LR inclusive education strategies in the Senior Schoolâ Provide training and/or professional learning in staff meetings as needed Responsibilities of a CHS Teacher:â Provide individualized support for the academic needs of students as learnersâ Explore and identify appropriate strategies for students who require accommodation(s) to demonstrate their learningâ Create, implement, and reviews individual education plans and school based support plansâ Facilitate the Ministry of Education adjudication process for provincial examinations and the College Board processes for Students with Disabilitiesâ Communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, administration, and outside agencies to support student learningâ Maintain documentation and records for individual students, ensuring confidentiality in reportingâ Provide appropriate and timely information to student advisors and parents on student progressâ Support and facilitate, where appropriate, sessions within the Advisory and SEL programmingâ Work as a collaborative and supportive member of the Student Services departmentâ Participate in school meetings and events, including school planning and professional developmentâ Create a positive and supportive culture for learningâ Engage in the Teacher Professional Growth Planâ Be an active and positive participant in the co-curricular program Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:â Bachelor's degree or equivalent with an Inclusive Education focus and qualifications to teach at an intermediate and senior levelâ B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification qualification criteriaâ Experience as an Inclusive Education/Learning Resources Teacher at a senior school levelâ An understanding of the BC Ministry of Education Inclusive Education policies and proceduresâ Experience reading and interpreting psycho-educational assessmentsâ Experience creating and implementing IEPsâ Demonstrable awareness of the learning styles of girls and young womenâ Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teachingâ Committed to the craft of teaching, best practices, and standards of professional practiceâ Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skillsâ A commitment to continued professional development and growthâ Energy, commitment and a readiness to participate in the co-curricular program the diverse life of the school community
