Responsibilities:â Bring a student-centered, inquiry-based, and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. curriculum of Science (Grade 8 - 12); inclusive of Chemistryâ Support the growth and development of individual learners through the delivery of the Crofton House School Advisory programâ Work as a collaborative and supportive member of the Science departmentâ Build relationships with teachers and staff across the school communityâ Be an active and positive participant in the co-curricular program as appropriate for the term of the contractâ Participate in school meetings and events, including school planning and professional developmentâ Create a positive and supportive culture for learning Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:â Essential: B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification qualification criteriaâ Relevant university qualifications preferably at the graduate level (e.g. Bachelor of Education plus Bachelor of Science)â Experience as a science teacher at a senior school levelâ Previous experience teaching chemistry is an assetâ A comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in the BC Ministry of Education documentsâ Experience in an independent school is an assetâ An awareness of the learning styles of girls and young womenâ Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teachingâ Committed to the craft of teaching, best practices, and standards of professional practiceâ Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skillsâ Energy, commitment, and a readiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community
