Our mission is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that inspires both students and educators alike. Duties and responsibilities:The Saulteaux First Nation is seeking a passionate and dedicated Land-Based Teacher to join our educational team. This position is designed for an individual who is committed to integrating Indigenous knowledge, culture, and language into the curriculum, while fostering a deep connection to the land among students. The Land-Based Teacher will work collaboratively with students, families, and community members to create a holistic learning environment that respects and honors Saulteaux traditions. Key Responsibilities:·       Develop and implement a land-based curriculum that includes all core areas of study that incorporates Saulteaux culture, history, and language.·       Facilitate outdoor learning experiences that engage students in traditional practices such as hunting, fishing, foraging, and cultural ceremonies.·       Collaborate with local Elders and knowledge keepers to enrich educational programs and provide mentorship to students.·       Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, resilience, and personal growth.·       Assess and evaluate student progress through observation and meaningful assessments aligned with both educational standards and community values.·       Organize and lead community events, workshops, and field trips that enhance students’ understanding of their cultural heritage and the natural environment.·       Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed about students’ progress and opportunities for involvement in the educational process.·       Stay current with best practices in land-based education and Indigenous pedagogy to continually improve teaching methods. Qualifications:·       Bachelor’s of Education Degree  ·       Valid Professional “A” Teaching Certificate ·       Strong understanding of Saulteaux Culture ·       Excellent communication and organizational skills·       Commitment to being innovative and adaptive to teaching techniques and methods that meet the diverse needs of students·       Ability to work collaboratively within a team and engage with the community·       First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.·       Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the community and surrounding areas. What We Offer:·       Competitive salary and benefits package·       Opportunities for professional development and continuing education·       Supportive and inclusive school culture Qualifications:·       Bachelor of Education degree·       Valid Professional “A” Teaching Certificate ·       Strong understanding of Saulteaux Culture preferred/and or willing to learn ·       Excellent communication and organizational skills·       Commitment to being innovative and adaptive to teaching techniques and methods that meet the diverse needs of students·       Ability to work collaboratively within a team and engage with the community What We Offer:·       Competitive salary and benefits package·       Opportunities for professional development and continuing education·       Supportive and inclusive school culture Application Process:  Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume, a cover letter, and three professional references to Yellow Quill First Nation Human ResourcesShantel Poorman, HRshantel.poorman@yqfn.ca
