Summary This position is located at the School Age Center, West Point, New York. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Available to CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours). This position is Mission and Weather Essential. Located in the scenic Hudson Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Child, Youth, and School (CYS) Services recognizes the challenges of our Soldiers, their Families and the Civilian workforce. Our mission, as Readiness Enablers, is to provide childcare to the West Point Community so that Soldiers and Civilians can complete their Army mission with the assurance of quality, reliable childcare. We believe that the most important contribution we can make to children's lives is to provide an environment that will foster the development of positive self-concept. School Support Services provides Army school-aged youth with educational opportunities, resources and information necessary to achieve academic success. A branch of Child & Youth Services (CYS), School Support Services features School Liaison Officers (SLOs), who help schools, installations and Families work together for student achievement. The Lee School Age Center (SAC) is nationally accredited by Council on Accreditation. COA's standards for Child and Youth Development (CYD) programs are designed to promote a program's capacity to provide quality experiences that help children and youth thrive. The SAC program offers a comprehensive, supervised curriculum.Major Duties: Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant in a Child and Youth Services program and maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs for program participants based on the group and individual children and youth. Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules and provides program options for children with special requirements. Maintains program participation data and complete daily report.
