Teacher Supervisor (Supervisor of Education)

Summary Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Major Duties: Responsible for the origination, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the following types of education programs: Adult Continuing Education, Literacy, General Education Development, English as a Second Language, parting education, Post-Secondary Education, Occupational/Vocational education, special learning needs programs, release readiness, and leisure library and law library. Determines program needs for the total inmate population and is responsible for monitoring the range of programs in both the education and/or recreation areas. Makes periodic evaluations of academic, vocational, and/or recreational programs, and keeps abreast of constantly changing developments. Establishes, monitors and maintains management information systems and use of this data to report on program performance and plans for program adjustments. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
