Summary About the Position: The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is transitioning to the Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) This position is located at the Office of the Director, Strategic and Organizational Excellence, Research, Planning and Monitoring Branch in Alexandria, Virginia. All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), as one of only two Federally-operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of War (DoW). DoWEA is globally positioned, operating 160 accredited schools in 8 districts located in 11 foreign countries, 7 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoWEA employs approximately 15,000 employees who serve more than 72,000 children of active duty military and DoW civilian families. DoWEA is committed to ensuring that all school-aged children of military families are provided a world-class education that prepares them for postsecondary education and/or career success and to be leading contributors in their communities as well as in our 21st century globalized society.Major Duties: Develop, review, and/or oversee plans for rigorous education research that use advanced quantitative methods to address significant questions of education science, policy, or practice in K-12 education relevant to DoDEA's mission and goals. Conduct rigorous K-12 education research and evaluation studies, including analyzing data arising from those activities using advanced statistical methods. Write products arising from rigorous, quantitative studies to convey study findings to a variety of audiences and consult with staff across DoDEA on issues related to research, evaluation, and statistics.
