These distinguished programmes are complemented by state-of-the-art facilities and purpose-built amenities, including two STEM studios, ensuring an innovative environment for learning. Position ProfileThe Junior School Director of Educational Technology is a visionary educational leader who shapes how technology and digital learning are embedded in teaching, learning, and school culture. This role combines strategic leadership, pedagogical innovation, and direct student teaching to position the Junior School as a future"‘ready, inquiry"‘driven environment. As a member of the extended Junior School Leadership Team, the Director helps realize the school’s mission, values, and strategic plan by leading technology integration, capacity building, and responsible innovation.Reporting to the Junior School Principal or designate, the Junior School Director of Educational Technology position will commence on August 27, 2026.Key Duties and Responsibilities*These may include, but are not limited to…Strategic and Organizational LeadershipLead the development and implementation of a technology vision for the Junior School that reflects its educational philosophy and supports the school’s strategic priorities within the IB continuum.Serve on the extended Junior School Leadership Team, contributing to strategic decision"‘making, organizational improvement, and long"‘term planning for digital learning.Oversee the Junior School educational technology budget, ensuring equitable, sustainable, and future"‘ready access to resources for teachers and students.Review teacher applications and lead performance/evaluation reviews focused on technology integration, pedagogy, and innovation in teaching practice, addressing concerns as needed, including implementing appropriate corrective or remedial measures if/when required.Build and sustain a culture of responsible digital citizenship and AI literacy, upholding rigorous safety, privacy, and ethical protocols.Guide the implementation of research"‘informed approaches to AI and emerging technologies, including running small pilot projects, evaluating their impact, and expanding successful practices across the Junior School.Collaborate with leadership, administrative and IT colleagues to establish and update technology policies and standards that meet institutional goals and regulatory requirements.Lead change management and implementation support for new digital initiatives, ensuring buy"‘in, professional confidence, and sustainable adoption.Monitor and evaluate the impact of technology integration through data, feedback, and student learning outcomes, using evidence to refine practice and priorities.Pedagogical and Faculty LeadershipLead faculty in designing technology"‘enhanced, inquiry"‘based learning experiences aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme and the school’s broader curriculum.Develop and facilitate targeted professional learning that supports a continuum of teacher growth—from early adopters to those needing significant coaching and scaffolding.Inspire innovative teaching practices through demonstration lessons, collaborative planning, and ongoing professional mentorship.Promote cross"‘curricular integration of digital tools that foster creativity, critical thinking, and global connection.Champion accessibility, inclusion, and universal design when selecting and supporting digital tools and classroom practices.Teaching and Student LearningTeach engaging STEAM based classes for Kindergarten to Grade 5 students, emphasizing coding, robotics, 3"‘D printing, digital literacy, and creative problem"‘solving.Design and implement technology projects that extend inquiry"‘based learning and connect authentically with classroom curriculum.Support student and parent understanding of ethical technology use and digital safety, reinforcing school values and community expectations.Community and Family EngagementPartner with parents and the wider school community through workshops, communications, and learning opportunities on digital citizenship, AI, screen use, and healthy technology habits.Build a shared language and common understanding among families about how technology is used purposefully, safely, and appropriately in the Junior School.Qualifications Bachelor of Education or equivalent;BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate;Preference may be given to applicants with 3-5 years of experience and those with a Master’s Degree;Valid First-Aid certificateSalary The annual salary for the Junior School Director of Educational Technology at Southpointe Academy during the 2026-2027 school year ranges from $120,000 to $125,000 based on experience of the candidate;Benefits include full medical coverage, dental, life insurance and retirement benefits. ApplicationsPlease submit your application with the following supporting documents to our Careers portal: Cover letter;Resume;Copy of BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate; Please see our website for additional opportunities.Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada or be in the process of obtaining the appropriate visa(s).Southpointe Academy encourages applications from suitably qualified candidates with diverse backgrounds.
