You will operate with flexibility, agility, and adaptability in a changing and challenging environment.If you are passionate about affecting student outcomes through education and want to be involved in shaping the future of the Miscigwacâgasihk Education Authority , we invite you to apply for the Superintedent of Learning position as outlined below:Superintendent of LearningThis position reports into the Director of Education and provides strategic leadership and oversight for teaching and learning within the MEA, with a primary focus on improving literacy, numeracy and Cree language outcomes for all learners. The Superintendent of Learning supports the school and educators through instructional leadership, data informed decision making, and culturally responsive practices that reflect Cree values, community priorities, and student needs. The role ensures high quality educational programming, continuous improvement, and alignment with MEA goals, curricular standards, and First Nation education priorities. Required Education, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:• Saskatchewan Professional A Teaching Certificate• Master of Education Degree (or equivalent) would be considered an asset• Minimum of 7 years successful teaching experience including progressive experience at the administrator accountability level• Minimum of 3 years direct supervisory experience• Demonstrated commitment to indigenous Education, Cree Language, Reconciliation, and culturally responsive practices.• Must be able to speak the Cree Language (Swampy Cree preferred)• Experience with First Nations Education Governance or Education Authority Leadership• Knowledge of performance management, reporting requirements and best practices in education.• Demonstrated knowledge of required Curriculum including indigenous curriculum • Knowledge of the role of other Human Service Agencies in the support of learning• Knowledge of best practices in educational leadership Required Skills and Abilities:• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic, situational and adaptive leadership • Demonstrated ability to act as the team leader in variety of situations • Demonstrated ability to contribute as a strategic team member• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with stakeholders and act as a role model • Demonstrated ability to provide for the professional growth and evaluation of staff• Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions to a wide range of problems• Ability to deal effectively with a broad range of Human Service Agencies and members of the public, including parents.• Ability to develop, implement, reflect on and monitor multiple processes • Demonstrated ability to present and promote change at the organizational level• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple demands and effectively manage time.• Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality relative to operations.• Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.This position involves direct supervision of staff in conjunction with the school principal and the Director of Education.  This includes teachers and school administration.Duties and Responsibilities:Without restricting the generality of the general description above, the Superintendent of Learning shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:Instructional Leadership• Provide system level leadership and direction for literacy, numeracy, and Cree language instruction across all MEA supported schools and programs.• Ensure high quality, evidence based instructional practices that support improved student achievement and learner success.• Guide the development, implementation, and monitoring of instructional frameworks aligned with MEA priorities, provincial standards, and First Nation education goals.• Model and promote effective instructional leadership grounded in Cree values, ways of knowing, and community expectations.Literacy and Numeracy Oversight• Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive literacy and numeracy strategies, including early years, intervention, and enrichment programming.• Support consistent assessment practices to identify student needs and monitor progress in reading, writing, and mathematics.• Use data and community knowledge to inform program improvements while respecting culturally appropriate measures of success.• Support educators in differentiated instruction and inclusive practices for diverse learners.Cree Language and Cultural Education• Provide leadership for Cree language instruction, revitalization, and integration across grades and subject areas.• Work collaboratively with Cree language teachers, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members to strengthen language delivery.• Support the development and use of culturally relevant and locally developed Cree language resources.• Ensure Cree language, culture, and worldview are meaningfully embedded within literacy and numeracy programming.Professional Learning and Capacity Building• Plan and oversee professional development for principals, teachers, and support staff related to literacy, numeracy, assessment, and Cree language instruction.• Mentor school leaders and instructional staff in effective teaching and learning practices.• Promote collaborative learning communities and sharing of best practices across schools and programs.• Support succession planning and capacity development within the MEA.Program Planning and Evaluation• Lead short  and long term instructional planning aligned with MEA strategic goals.• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of literacy, numeracy, and Cree language programs using both quantitative and qualitative approaches.• Prepare reports and recommendations for the Director of Education related to learning outcomes and system improvement.• Ensure program accountability to MEA leadership, community expectations, and funding requirements. Collaboration and Relationship Building• Work closely with the Director of Education to advance MEA learning priorities.• Collaborate with school administrators, education staff, and external partners to support student success.• Engage with parents, caregivers, and community members to strengthen home–school–community connections.• Represent the MEA in meetings related to curriculum, instruction, and First Nation education initiatives as required. Policy, Compliance, and Governance Support• Support the development and implementation of MEA policies related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.• Ensure instructional programs comply with applicable legislation, agreements, and education standards while reflecting First Nation autonomy.• Provide informed advice to MEA leadership on instructional trends, research, and best practices. Student Centred and Community Based Focus• Promote wellness centred, trauma informed, and strengths based approaches to learning.• Advocate for equitable access to learning supports and culturally responsive education for all students.• Uphold principles of respect, responsibility, and accountability consistent with Cree teachings.At no time should a Superintendent of Learning discuss, in public, information pertaining to a student or staff.  The Superintendent of Learning is expected to respect the confidential nature of the position by avoiding discussion about any topics that are not formally communicated to the public.  Breaching confidentially is a serious violation of acceptable conduct.The Superintendent is expected to work independently as well as lead or work as a team member of the across multiple groups including the school, Administration Office, Band, Community and other Provincial Bodies as required.
