Summary This position is located at the Middle School/Teen (MST) West Point, NY. Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Available to CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours). This position is Mission and Weather Essential. Located in the scenic Hudson Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Child, Youth, and School (CYS) Services recognizes the challenges of our Soldiers, their Families and the Civilian workforce. Middle School and Teen Program Center is open to students in grades 6-12. Planned and impromptu events and activities include fun and exciting offerings from Boys & Girls Club, 4-H, Character Counts, and Army Youth Program Curriculums. The focus is on character and leadership development, academic success and mentoring, arts and creativity, and sports, health and fitness. As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 31 December 2026.Major Duties: Provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs. Actively supervises and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events. Assists in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines for children/youth using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials which includes group and individual activities. Helps arrange for or serve appropriate snacks or meals. Identifies and responds to emergency situations including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs.
