The school has a population of approximately 220 students in a 7-12 setting with a staff of 24. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.Required qualifications:Eligible for Interim Language/Cultural Specialist CertificateFluent in both English and Inuktut (written and oral)In the event that this competition becomes an open until filled posting, this position may be offered as a one year term under Letter of Authority. Desired qualifications:Experience working on K - 12 classroom settingsEvidence of courses taken towards educational certificationExperience and / or training with current assessment methodsEvidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practicesExperience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.)Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experienceEvidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced LiteracyTraining and / or teaching experience in an ESL environmentEvidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholdersPlease note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required.The salary for an Aboriginal Language Certificate holder ranges from $78,206 prorated/annum to $94,389 prorated/annum.
