OPASKWAYAK EDUCATION SERVICES INC.REQUIRES HILDA YOUNG CHILD CARE CENTRE                REQUIRES 1 BUS DRIVER/MAINTENANCE  PERSON  ·       The Bus Driver will be responsible for transporting children of various ages to and from their homes, and to the Hilda Young Child Care Centre, and respective schools in an effective and safe manner. This is a dual position therefore, a skilled Maintenance Person to help keep our facility safe, clean, and well-maintained.Duties:Opaskwayak Education Services Inc. will provide a bus for the children;Will be responsible for following established routes and ensuring passengers arrive at their destination on time;Safely pick up and deliver students to and from their homes and schools, following the assigned time schedule throughout the day;Must arrive at the Hilda Young Day Care Centre well in advance of schedule departures (at least 15 minutes);From time to time driver may transport passengers on special excursions;At times, the Bus Driver will assist students with boarding, exiting and crossing the street;Adhere to and enforce bus safety rules and standards;Must comply with all traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner;May be required to resolve concerns in a positive, respectful and proactive manner;Complete pre-trip inspections prior to departing for any trip;Complete post trip inspections after any trip;Complete daily driver logs; Complete mileage logs;Adhere to Opaskwayak Education Services Inc., policies and procedures;Adhere to Manitoba Transport regulations at all times;Read and interpret maps, where and when required;Report any malfunctions or needed repairs immediately to the Hilda Young Child Care Centre Executive Director;Will monitor and keep an updated first aid kit in the Bus at all times;Will maintain order and discipline among students while they are on the Bus;Must have excellent written and communication skills;Will be required to submit annually; drivers abstract, medical, criminal record check and child abuse registry check;Other duties maybe assigned by his/her supervisor.  MaintenancePerform general maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, etc.)Maintain indoor and outdoor play areas to ensure health and safety standards are metConduct routine inspections and preventative maintenanceRespond promptly to maintenance requests and safety concernsAssist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal and yard upkeepEnsure compliance with daycare safety regulations and licensing requirementsCoordinate with external contractors when needed Qualifications & SkillsPrevious maintenance or handyman experience preferredBasic knowledge of tools, equipment, and repair techniquesAbility to identify and address safety hazardsDependable, organized, and able to work independentlyPhysically able to lift, bend, and perform hands-on tasksExperience in a childcare or institutional setting is an assetMust be willing to complete required background checks What We OfferSupportive and family-friendly work environmentFlexible scheduling (where possible)Competitive wages based on experienceOpportunity to make a meaningful impact in a childcare settingWorking ConditionsInteracts with public at large, including school aged children;Flexible working hours;Manual dexterity required to operate a large motor vehicle;Sitting for extended period of time;Exposure to all weather conditions;Repetitive work;Maybe required to lift up to 40 plus pounds. RequirementsMust possess a valid Class 2 Driver’s license;Must possess a valid School Bus Driver Certificate, OR willing to obtain, through Opaskwayak Education Services Inc.;Must possess a completed satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check prior to start date;Minimum 2 years’ experience;Clean driver’s abstract and medical;Must have valid First Aid/CPR Certificate;Ability and experience of loading and unloading a person in a wheelchair is a must.
