We are one of Manitoba’s Top Employers and offer a generous Total Compensation Package with health benefits, a great pension plan along the opportunity for personal and professional growth including tuition waivers. DUTIES:Reporting to the Associate Registrar, the Academic Advisor is part of a team of professionals that provide a broad range of student support services to students: advising on program and admission requirements and course selection for certificate, diploma, and degree offerings, assisting students in understanding academic policies and procedures for all Community Based UCN students as assigned. The Academic Advisor will provide referrals to Community Based UCN students to other UCN services which includes, but is not limited to Counselling, Assessment Services, Learner Assistance Centre, Residence/Housing, Participation in Student Appeals, and providing information on reinstatement processes, etc. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelors degree in Counselling or Social Sciences; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered• Experience in a fast-paced service-centered and/or academic centered role evaluating complex student academic needs• Experience with interpreting, applying and advising on policies and procedures• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills• Ability to work as part of a team to facilitate the student’s learning process• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office 365 and internet searching• Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality• Strong time management and organizational skills• Ability to understand cultural influences and issues specific to adult learners in northern communities• Commitment to life-long learning ASSETS• Jenzabar experience• Knowledge of UCN programs, services, departments, and locations• Experience within a post-secondary Registrar's office CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT• Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada Applicants are asked to provide a cover letter and resume with their application.
