Fort Bend Independent School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position: Middle School Special Education Teacher-RDSPD School Year: 2026-2027 Location: First Colony Middle School Job Overview: The Teacher Special Education Middle School RDSPD will provide direct classroom instruction in academic, behavior, social and self-care, consistent with requirements of state and federal laws as specified in each student's Individual Education Plan's skills for students in the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities, required unless otherwise stated as preferred. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentials functions.Bachelor's Degree in Deaf Education or related fieldMaster's Degree in Deaf Education or related field preferredValid Texas Teacher Certification for Teacher of the DeafValid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to the subject and grade level of assignment or demonstrate competency through the state's 2010 and 2011 High Objective Uniform State Standard of Evaluation (HOUSSE), requiredDe-Escalation/Restraint Certification provided training required within 30 days of providing instructionAssessment of Sign Communication (TASC) for Total Communication Classroom Environments required within 1 year for Total Communication ClassroomsExperience preferred but not requiredAbility to plan and implement lessons based on the needs and abilities of studentsAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parentsExcellent communication skills, both oral, written, and signDemonstrated knowledge of appropriate technology equipment and software programsProven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
