SUMMARY:The Community School Coordinator (CSC) will work closely with parents, students, school staff, community members, volunteers, businesses and agencies in developing a community school plan and coordinating community based programs within the First Nation. The CSC will engage with the community members and dialogue with the school stakeholders to ensure ongoing communication is maintained.  The Community School Coordinator will also facilitate leadership as part of the school administrative team in the areas of community education, community development and interagency programming. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITiES:·         Assist in the development and administration of programs designed to engage community involvement in the school.·         Assist the school staff in developing and implementing effective programs for students.·         Facilitate the cooperative involvement of school staff and community members in developing local resources.·         Interpret community education needs and facilitate initiatives to the community at large, its agencies and groups.·         Work with local government, non-government agencies and community members to assist in enhancing community involvement and developing an interagency approach to programming.·         Provide support for the school families which have the opportunity to become involved in educational and community affairs.·         Facilitate the information flow between community, parents and school.·         Facilitate administrative support to the community school programs.·         Facilitate educational programs and interagency initiatives.·         Perform other tasks as identified by the Principal to develop an effective community school.·         Participate in professional development opportunities as required.·         Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS:·         Knowledge of First Nations values, culture and Elders protocols would be an asset.·         Ability to speak a First Nations language would be an asset.·         Preference will be given to candidates with technical/vocational background in education, social work, community development or other related fields.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.·         Previous experience working with First Nation communities would be an asset.·         Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.·         Excellent verbal, written and technological communication skills required. ·         Possess a valid driver’s license ·         Current Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Search must be provided. OTHER:·         Must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and reliable vehicle.·         Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) with vulnerable sector search, as a condition of employment.
