Schedule "A"KIHS - SYNCHRONIZED COURSES TEACHERJOB DESCRIPTIONThe teacher responsibilities include but not limited to the following:Synchronous - Adult Education• Will provide educational services, following the rules, regulations and guidance in the Ontario Education Act and as set out by the Ontario College of Teachers;• Teach synchronized classes in non-traditional times that could include Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The teaching will be conducted using synchronized platforms and interactive white board technology.• Deliver synchronized courses during working term;• Communicate regularly with students, teachers and KiHS administration about student progress;• Work with the Adult Education staff to determine student course needs;• Will actively participate in promoting KiHS Adult Education courses throughout the year and at special events as requested by administration;A-Synchronous - KiHS Community Classroom• Available to fill-in/ travel for a teacher in a northern community in case of emergency, travel is mandatory when requested;• When covering a classroom in one for the communities, will assume the same responsibilities as the local KiHS teacher/ mentor;• When scheduled to work to a KiHS First Nation site, will follow the work schedule as the First Nation KiHS teacher mentor schedule;• Will engage in regular contact with the parents, guardians, and the Local Authority Education about student progress, regularly and/or when required;• Will teach the online instruction as per determined and assigned by the administration. For each term, the administration will fairly distribute the courses among the teachers.• Will assist the administration in maintaining close co-operation with the community;KOBE• Must provide virtual tutoring support to students as requested by administration.• When scheduled to work in the office, will attend to the office of work from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, including 1 hour lunch break unless hours are approved to deliver courses in the evening and weekends;• Will encourage all students in the pursuit of learning;• Will perform marking, administration and other assigned duties beyond regular school hours. The marking shall be completed prior to the beginning of the next school week;• Will promote Indigenous language (Ojibwe, Oji-Cree and Cree) and Indigenous ways of knowing within KiHS programing;• Will support community values and beliefs; such as, but not limited to, respect for the Creator, for self, for self, others and for the land, promote Indigenous ways of knowing, doing and being, including self-reliance, truth and honesty, justice, responsibility, generosity, cooperation and sharing, work ethics, courage, relationship building with others, modesty, patience, persistence and resourcefulness;Will be responsible for effective supervision, instruction, evaluation of the progress of students in the subjects assigned, and report to the administration on the progress or anything else on students, regularly and/ or when required;• Will implement individual educational programs (IEP), as deemed appropriate, in cooperation with the administration, special education resource teacher and/or resource teacher;• Will ensure that all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is involved and/ or responsible;• Will act through proper lines of authority when communicating, seeking advice, assistance or clarification on issues;• Will co-operate fully with KOBE staff and/or administration in all matters related to the instruction of students;• Will review and create appropriate lesson plans for the course(s) assigned to make them engaging for synchronous delivery;• Will develop (create) a new course, or modify at least up to 2 courses during the school year, as directed by the administration;• Will actively participate in student retention activities as directed by administration;• Will fulfill other related duties/requests as set by the KOBE administration, and/or immediate supervisor not limited to:• marking, coaching, mentoring, etc. Salary Range: $53610 - 103610  The salary range listed reflects the expected hiring range for this position in accordance with Ontario pay transparency requirements. Placement within the range will be based on qualifications, and experience. The full compensation band for this role may extend beyond the posted range in accordance with organizational compensation policies and progression practices. Hiring Policy: Hiring preference is given to members of the KO First Nations, and secondly to indigenous individuals from outside of the KO First Nations.
