MĂ®nĂ® ThnĂ® Community School is seeking a passionate, creative, and student-centered Performing Arts Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging and culturally responsive performing arts programming while supporting student growth, confidence, and creativity in both junior and senior high school settings.This position offers an exciting opportunity to build and expand performing arts programming that may include drama, technical theatre, and CTS/CTF options connected to the arts and media.Position OverviewThe Performing Arts Teacher will:Teach Junior High and Senior High Drama coursesDevelop engaging performing arts programming that encourages creativity, collaboration, and self-expressionPotentially teach Technical Theatre and CTS/CTF courses such as stagecraft, media production, design, or related areasOrganize and direct student performances, productions, showcases, and school/community eventsFoster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environmentIncorporate Indigenous perspectives, storytelling, language, and culture into learning experiencesCollaborate with school staff, administration, Elders, and community members to support student successSupport extracurricular opportunities related to theatre, performance, and the artsQualificationsValid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification)Bachelor of Education or equivalentBackground in Drama, Performing Arts, Theatre, Music, Dance, or related field preferredExperience teaching Junior and/or Senior High students preferredExperience with technical theatre, stage production, lighting, sound, or media arts considered an assetKnowledge of CTS/CTF programming is an assetStrong classroom management and relationship-building skillsCommitment to culturally responsive teaching and Indigenous educationDesired AttributesThe ideal candidate will:Be energetic, creative, and collaborativeBuild positive relationships with students, staff, families, and communityEncourage student voice, confidence, and leadershipValue land-based and culturally connected learning opportunitiesDemonstrate flexibility and innovation in program developmentAbout MTCSMĂ®nĂ® ThnĂ® Community School is part of the Stoney Education Authority and is committed to providing high-quality, culturally grounded education that supports the academic, emotional, spiritual, and social growth of students.
