School Counselor - Little Red River Board of EducationLittle Red River Board of Education is looking for a School Counselor / Mental Health Specialist in our Garden River community. Little Red River Board of Education is comprised of four schools located in John D’Or Prairie, Garden River, and Fox Lake, Alberta and all are under the brilliant Northern Lights. We are the largest First Nations School System in Alberta. LRRBE schools offer many exciting and highly successful programs! All schools follow the Alberta Education Curriculum enriched by the Cree language and culture of our three communities. Garden River Community Sister Gloria School is comprised of 350 students (Kindergarten - Grade 12) in a beautiful new fully equipped school facility. Fox Lake is a remote community adjacent to the Peace River, about 196 km from High Level. We Offer Our Employees:- Salary above Provincial School Level - Accommodations Highly Subsidized- Free internet and utilities- Twice Yearly Travel Allowance- Moving Allowance- Comprehensive Benefits Package and Pension Plan - Yearly Educational Symposium (Edmonton) - Professional Development and Workshops- Support for New Graduates in the Profession Responsibilities:- Provide short-term individual and group counselling to students.- Works directly with students in a wrap-around - model to develop comprehensive    multidisciplinary support plans.- Participate as a key member of the School Based Team to address day-to-day emergent/urgent social and emotional needs of students. - Develop and support a collaborative, school-wide, mental wellness plan that includes professional learning opportunities for teachers and support- Demonstrate compassion and uses a variety of effective communication techniques when communicating to students, staff and parents- Additional projects as requestedQualifications- Masters Degree in Counselling or equivalent- Fully qualified/experienced in the area of specialization- Experience/further qualifications in the following: o Working with children, young people and families in a school contexto Special issues in counselling such as family problems; substance abuse; suicide assessment; child abuse; grieving process, etc.o Working with children/youth where the children/youth are exhibiting early signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger, loss, or other emotional or behavioral challengeo Able to work independently, but keep administration appraised of sensitive situationso Experience presenting to large and small groups and varied audiences including students, educators, parents and members of the public.Please submit resume and cover letter to Gordon Breen at gordonb@lrrbe.com by Friday, june 19, 2026, 2026
