We are a K-12 school with over 300 students with a strong focus on Cree langauge and cultural programming. We also have educational assistants for almost every class with one on one EA's. We implement a restorative approach to discipline with a great team of support, including a wellness team, land based education, Elders program and our own locally developed history curriculum (to name a few). We also have a VP for elementary and a VP for jr/sr high. Alexander First Nation Education, located 40 minutes northwest of Edmonton, is currently seeking potential candidates for the following position:Mental Health CoachThe mental health coach works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary school based team to ensure success in the area of student academic, social-emotional well-being by providing counseling, interventions and referral resources within our K-12 setting. The mental health coach provides the following:·      individual and group counseling to students, addressing issues such as academic difficulties, social-emotional challenges and behavioral problems·      represent the needs of students and families within the school system and community·      provide immediate support and intervention during times of crisis or emergency·      plan and develop prevention and intervention programs to address specific needs·      conduct assessments to identify student needs·      evaluate the effectiveness of interventions·      nurtures collaborative linkages with the community partners, parent/caregivers, teachers, school staff and administrators·      connect students with mental health services and healthcare providers as needed·      develop or assist in developing individualized program plans (IPPs)·      collaborate with our Wellness team·      provide support to students and families·      assist students with developing coping mechanisms, social skills, conflict resolution skills and anger management techniques.·      Carry out case management functions including convening case conferences and liaising with community services and other professionals involved with the child and family (especially education, social services, and health) Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education or Psychology3-5 years’ experience in field of study
