MTCS emphasizes strong literacy and numeracy foundations, career readiness, and community involvement.Position SummaryThe Stoney Education Authority is seeking a dynamic and caring Grade 6/7 Teacher to join the Mînî Thnî Community School teaching team. The successful candidate will inspire students to achieve academic success while nurturing cultural identity and community values. This role includes responsibility for teaching multiple core subjects and integrating land-based, hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom learning to Stoney culture and the natural environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging instruction for Grade 6 and 7 students in accordance with the Alberta curriculum.Integrate Stoney language and cultural teachings throughout the learning environment.Collaborate with Elders, knowledge keepers, and Outdoor Education staff to design land-based and experiential lessons.Use SEA-approved assessment tools to monitor and support student growth.Implement evidence-based literacy and numeracy interventions such as Road to Reading and Science of Reading phonics instruction.Foster a positive classroom climate that supports diverse learning needs and student well-being.Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administration to ensure student success.Participate actively in school events, professional development, and community activities.QualificationsBachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed.)Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certificationExperience teaching upper elementary or middle years preferredFamiliarity with Indigenous perspectives, Stoney Nakoda culture, and community-based education is an assetStrong classroom management, planning, and communication skillsCommitment to professional learning and collaborative teamworkWhy Join SEA?Competitive salary and benefits package aligned with experience and qualificationsOpportunities for professional development in Indigenous education and outdoor learningSupportive, collaborative school culture that values teacher wellness and growthMeaningful opportunity to contribute to language revitalization and student success in the Stoney Nakoda Nation
