In addition, this role provides assistance and support in the implementation of individual education programs for visual and hearing impaired students. Teacher assistants support students and assist teachers with teaching and non-instructional tasks. They assist in areas of personal care, teaching, and behaviour management, working alongside the teachers. After School Program Responsibilities:Oversee and coordinate the After School Program at the Junior School from 2:45 pm to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday on days when school is in sessionWork collaboratively with other two After School Program Supervisors and the ManagerProvide a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for students ranging from grades 1 to 7Prepare and plan for activities dailySupervise student lunch and recess inside and outsideSupervise other student activities as neededTeacher Assistant Responsibilities:Assists the teacher in the implementation of curriculum, classroom materials and schedules to meet the needs of studentsReinforces concepts introduced by the teacher and supports instructional programs designed by the teacherMaintains regular communications with the teacher and other team members and other relevant staffSupports the delivery of assessments such as Words Their Way, DIBELS, and PM BenchmarkingHelp students individually or in small groups with activitiesSupervises student(s) both on and off the school campus as requiredOperates standard school and office equipment including personal computer applications, instructional aid communications, and special individualized equipmentMay carry out emergency proceduresPerforms other related duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and ExperienceCollaborative, flexible, and supportive team playerStrong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skillsAbility to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleaguesExperience working with elementary-aged children in a school, camp, childcare, or recreation settingUnderstanding of inclusive education practices and diverse learning needsAbility to provide care, guidance, and appropriate support to childrenAbility to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professionalismDemonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and belongingKnowledge of current research related to girls and learningFamiliarity with supporting students with learning, behavioural, sensory, or physical needs is an assetEarly Childhood Education certification or Responsible Adult Training is an assetCurrent First Aid certificationFood Safe certificationMust be 19 years of age or olderRelevant experience working with children and youth required Â
