Guidance Counsellor2026-2027 School Year聽聽The School Counsellor works collaboratively as a team with school administrator, teachers, staff, students, and parents. With specialized knowledge and training in counselling children and adolescents in a school environment, the School Counsellor supports regular classroom teachers with specialized teaching strategies regarding supporting mental health and social emotional learning. 聽RESPONSIBILITIESIndividual and group counselling路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Works with school Administration to intervene and address day-to-day emergent/urgent social and emotional issues of students路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provides small group and individual support for students who require communication and social skills, friendship/relationship development, self-regulation to build student success and independence路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Delivers group workshops on mental health awareness (anti-bulling, anxiety) and behavior management路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Identifies classroom needs and supports teachers with whole class instruction on social skills, behavior and other social/emotional skills when needed路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Completes referrals for therapeutic support to other community agencies who support children and families who have children with emotional and mental health needs路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provides education and supports program on awareness and duty to respond for a risk of suicide路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrates compassion and uses a variety of effective communication techniques when communicating to staff, parents, and community agencies路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Possesses the ability to work independently and make decisions while keeping the supervisor apprised of sensitive situations路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Responds to emergencies and follows crisis intervention protocol路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintains private and current records and filesOther school initiatives:路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provides education to staff in using various universal instructional approaches and strategies for communication and social skills, friendship/relationship development, conflict resolution and self-regulation to build students聮 resiliency and independence路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Performs other related duties as required KEY REQUIREMENTS路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Bachelor of Social Work Degree路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience in running groups and meetings for students路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience in conflict management路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experiencing working with clients that have trauma and underlying mental health diagnosis路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector required路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Valid class 5 Driver聮s License聽聽Applicants are invited to submit: A letter of application, resume stating qualifications, related work experience, copies of credentials, current RCMP Security Clearance/Vulnerable Sector Check, copy of valid driver聮s license, and three (3) current professional supervisory references to:聽Roxanne Gamble, Human Resources OfficerEmail: roxanne.gamble@clcfn.caCc: jack.rayne@mltc.ca聽聽Deadline for applications:聽聽聽聽 June 19, 2026CLCFN sincerely appreciates and thanks all individuals for their applications, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
