We are one of Manitoba’s Top Employers and offer a generous Total Compensation Package with health benefits, a great pension plan along with the opportunity for personal and professional growth including tuition waivers.DUTIES:Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources the Payroll and Benefits Administrator plays a vital function for UCN, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time and properly enrolled in benefits programs, and that accurate employee records and audit trails are maintained. The position will be responsible for preparing, balancing, verifying, and recording all payroll transactions, as well as administration of benefit plans and producing various bi-weekly, monthly, and annual reports. The Payroll and Benefits Administrator must ensure that all responsibilities are performed with due regard to confidentiality and in accordance with applicable legislation, the Collective Agreement, benefit plan provisions, human resource and payroll policies and procedures. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Post-secondary diploma in Finance or Accounting; equivalent combination and experience may be considered• Experience administrating Canadian payroll and/or benefits (i.e. processing full cycle payrolls, processing T4s, managing reports for Tax Canada, Workers Compensation claims management, administrating benefit plans such as Group and Dependents Insurance and pension plans)• Strong attention to detail• Customer service oriented communication and interpersonal skills• Ability to interpret and explain policy and procedures, collective agreement, and legislation• Ability to work well independently, as well as in a team• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe• Effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, meet strict timelines, often with overlapping deadlines• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems efficiently• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and handle sensitive information• Commitment to life-long learning ASSETS:• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification or willing to obtain• Knowledge of Indigenous Culture Conditions of Employment:• Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada Applicants are asked to provide a cover letter and resume with their application.
