Summary About the position: Dahlgren is recognized throughout the Navy for providing an outstanding education to students in pre-k through eighth grade. This position is located at: Department of War Education Activity, Department of War Education Activity Mid-Atlantic District, Dahlgren Elementary Middle School, Dahlgren, Virginia. Description of Working Environment: Work is performed in a classroom setting. Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), as one of only two Federally-operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of War (DoW). DoWEA is committed to ensuring that all school-aged children of military families are provided a world-class education that prepares them for postsecondary education and/or career success and to be leading contributors in their communities as well as in our 21st century globalized society.Major Duties: Maintain accurate individual and class records using the school information system Document student progress using formative and summative assessment tools Establish a positive learning environment with clear expectations for success and behavior Plan and organize standards-based lessons to ensure in-depth learning and meet curriculum goals Collaborate with parents and educators to meet the individualized learning requirements of each student Provide effective strategies to assist students in mastering or exceeding grade level content standards Differentiate instruction for individual student learning styles/needs Integrate approved technology to enhance instruction and improve the quality of learning
