Summary This position is located in the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), Research to Practice Division (RTP) in Washington, DC. The incumbent is responsible for formulating policies, directing, and coordinating the administration of programs for special education and rehabilitation services to meet the needs and develop the full potential of individuals with disabilities. As a Supervisory Education Program Specialist, GS-1720-15, you will be responsible for: o Uses up-to-date research and data trends to lead the development and implementation of a program of discretionary grants. o Develops and reviews notices inviting applications, guidance documents, reports, technical assistance documents, and presentations to advance evidence-based policy and practice in early intervention and special education. o Maintains ongoing communication and partnerships with offices across the federal government to support Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) in effectively implementing its discretionary and formula grant programs and meeting program goals and outcomes. o Maintains a work environment that fosters innovation and continuous improvement and has processes and procedures in place that support efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability. o Supervises professional staff to ensure that they are held accountable for high-quality results.
