The Bernard Constant Community School has approximately 394 students enrolled in their nursery to Grade 12 Programs and a staffing compliment of 90 consisting of teachers, consultants and support staff.聽Position Title聽Cook聮s Assistant聽The PositionUnder the direct supervision of the Principal at Bernard Constant Community School, the Cook聮s Assistant is responsible for cleaning after breakfast, snack(s), and lunchtime as well as assisting the cook with preparation and cooking duties as prescribed.聽QualificationsSafe-food Handling CertificateExperience with institutional cooking scenariosGrade 12 diploma聽Preference will be given to members of the First Nations participating in the East Central First Nation Education Authority.聽Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to effectively manage and prioritize tasks.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to work flexible hours.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong interpersonal skills.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to communicate effectively and professionally through verbal and written communications.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to apply and follow project management principles and tasks.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Exceptional attention to detail.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong customer service skills.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to do Medium Load Work which includes exerting up to 22.6 kilograms (50 pounds) of force occasionally (lifting and/or carrying); exerting up to exerting up to 9.7 kilograms (20 pounds) of force occasionally and exerting up to 4.5 kilograms (10 pounds) of force frequently to move objects.路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to present a positive, 聯can do聰 attitude.聽聽Duties and Responsibilities路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Place dishes in storage area路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Scour pots and pans路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prepping food as required路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assisting cook in all aspects of delivering a hot-lunch/hot-supper scenario聽Required Knowledge, Qualifications and ExperienceStrong knowledge of and awareness of indigenous First Nation culture and history with an emphasis of trauma, family violence, indigenous youth engagement and community outreach.聽The successful candidate must possess:A CPIC with vulnerable sector check;A valid Drivers license;A CPR Certificate; andA First Aid Certificate.聽Required Skills and AbilitiesEffective interpersonal skills; Flexibility; Team player; Excellent oral communication; Interpersonal awareness; Dependability; Judgement; Values and ethics; Reliability; Punctuality聽Preference will be given to members of the First Nations participating in the East Central First Nation Education Authority.聽Salary and BenefitsSalary/Wages are commensurate with experience.聽Extended health benefits, vacation or holiday pay, and personal/sick leave may be available depending on contract terms.
