MIHKOSKIWAKK NÊHIYAWAK Education Authority (MNEA) is seeking an experienced, student-focused educational leader to serve as Principal of our Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system.The successful candidate will provide overall leadership for both the Mamawe Awasis Elementary School and John William Head Memorial Education Centre, working collaboratively with the Director of Education, MNEA Board, Superintendent, two Vice-Principals, school staff, students, parents, Elders, and RECN Leadership, and community partners to improve educational outcomes and strengthen Cree language, culture, and identity throughout the learning environment.Reporting directly to the Director of Education, the Principal will lead the implementation of the MNEA Strategic Plan, Regional Education Agreement (REA) performance measures, School Improvement Plans, and Board priorities while ensuring safe, effective, and culturally responsive school operations.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Principal will:• Provide instructional leadership for Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 programming.• Lead and support two Vice-Principals responsible for Elementary and High School   operations.• Establish and monitor academic achievement goals in literacy, numeracy, attendance, graduation, and student success.• Lead implementation of School Improvement Plans and educational priorities.• Support and promote Cree language revitalization, cultural programming, and land-based learning opportunities.• Build leadership capacity among administrators, teachers, and support staff.• Foster positive relationships with students, families, Elders, and community members.• Support MNEA Board initiatives and community engagement activities.• Ensure compliance with MNEA Board Policies, Administrative Procedures, and accountability requirements.• Manage school resources, staffing, budgets, facilities, and student services effectively.• Prepare and present school achievement and operational reports to the Director of Education and MNEA Board of Education.  Qualifications Applicants should possess:• A valid Saskatchewan Professional “A” Teaching Certificate.• A Master’s Degree in Education (preferred).• Minimum five (5) years of successful teaching experience.• Successful school administrative experience.• Demonstrated instructional leadership and commitment to student achievement.• Knowledge of Indigenous education, First Nations governance, and culturally responsive educational practices.• Demonstrated commitment to Cree language, culture, and community engagement.• Strong communication, organizational, supervisory, and team-building skills.Desired Leadership AttributesThe successful candidate will demonstrate:• Visionary educational leadership.• Commitment to continuous improvement.• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.• Ability to analyze student achievement data and implement improvement strategies.• A collaborative leadership style that empowers staff and students.• Respect for Indigenous/Cree knowledge, traditions, and community values.CompensationMNEA offers a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
