Summary The Child and Youth Program (CYP) Direct Care Supervisor assists the center Director by supervising, supporting, and instructing Direct Care Professionals in CDCs and SAC Programs. They oversee staff accountability, manage schedules, model proper interactions, and maintain program requirements. When necessary, they provide ratio coverage and can serve as the Manager on Duty, fully assuming the Director's responsibilities and oversight duties in their absence to ensure smooth daily operations. CNRSW Naval Base Coronado N96Major Duties: Supervisory duties comprise 25% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to: Directs work to be accomplished by staff. Assigns work based on priorities, difficulty and requirements of assignments, and staff capabilities. Conducts annual performance reviews of staff. Participates in section staffing decisions. Ensures staff receives proper training to fulfill requirements of their positions. Addresses potential disciplinary and/or performance issues timely and takes appropriate, corrective action(s) as necessary. Supports Commander, Navy Installations Command's (CNIC) Equal Employment. General duties comprise 75% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to: Personnel Management Supervises an assigned team of direct care professionals and volunteers. Initiates and implements personnel actions and supports the CYP Director in order to assure quality related to selection, assignments, training, promotions, disciplinary actions, and recognition of employees and volunteers. Supports and carries out all established Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) objectives and policies in matters of personnel management and communicates support of these policies. Establishes local performance standards for employees and volunteers using established standards and requirements and rates employees' performance. Coordinates with Training and Curriculum Specialists and confirms intended learning outcomes are applied and reassessed as applicable to refine individual competency and promote mastery of new skill(s). Resolves complaints related to personnel concerns and makes recommendations to the Director for corrective action as necessary. Encourages and facilitates the pursuit of continuing higher education, including the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Military School-Age (MSA) credential or college level classes. Program Operations Build and adjust shifts to maintain exact staff-to-child ratios, integrate training time, and manage leave requests. Modify daily schedules for emergent needs and clarify staff assignments in real time. Route classroom changes to the operations clerk to ensure accurate updates for billing, utilization, and recordkeeping. Validate opening and closing protocols, assuming complete responsibility as the directed Manager on Duty. Maintain adequate programming supplies and align material availability with planned lesson activities. Apprise the Director regularly regarding staffing levels to ensure optimal classroom management. Develop and analyze surveys to gather staff and patron feedback for future program improvements Program Management Oversee developmentally appropriate SAC and CDC programs, coordinate field trips, and manage supplies. Conduct routine safety sweeps and quality assurance audits on classroom logs and attendance reports. Guide staff on Inclusion Support Plans, custom behavior strategies, and specialized tracking. Monitor compliance with physician instructions, dietary limits, and parent-directed medication steps. Train direct care staff, assist with single-ratio classrooms, and offer hands-on medical administration backup. Management Operations Ensures facility, program, and activity security through impromptu and routine safety checks to include classroom playground access/egress points, as well as scrutiny of indoor/outdoor inspections. Submits repair requests for assigned classrooms/activity areas and ensures temporary mitigations when necessary. Ensures assigned areas are clean (if applicable sanitized), clear of clutter, and well maintained. Reports lapses in cleaning contract to Director or Assistant Director for action. Communication Initiates professional communication and briefs parents, CYP team members, contractors, installation leadership, and partners (e.g., Kids Included Together). Collaborates with CYP leaders, Training & Curriculum Specialists (T&Cs), and school liaisons to transition children smoothly as they age. Actively addresses and resolves concerns involving parents, volunteers, or staff. Conducts parent orientations, facilitates conferences, and assists in establishing the Parent Involvement Board (PIB). Compliance Implements and enforces Department of the Navy (DON) and DoD CYP policies regarding health, fire, safety, and facility standards. Supports DoD certification/accreditation, reviews and submits accident reports, and serves as a mandatory reporter for suspected child abuse or neglect. Oversees core CYP programming, manages child records, and ensures compliance with the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
