Grade 3 Teacher

Poplar Hill First Nation is a community of 700 hundred residents located 20 air minutes from Red Lake Ontario. We have a school population of 176 students. We are searching for a warm, loving teacher who will impart love of school, education and recreation to our students. They are enthusiastic learners, who come to school speaking Oji-Cree. They have limited English skills and require someone with patience and understanding as they expand their languages.In this position, you are somebody with a passion for working with young adults. You enjoy and love participating alongside your students. This position requires someone to have a limitless of energy. We expect you, as the teacher, to have your Bachelor’s Degree along with a Bachelor of Education and Ontario Teaching Certificate. You will be living in a remote community accessible by plane and during the winter for 6-8 weeks by winter road. Our community is comprised of Nursing Health Unit, Northern Store, Band Office, Fire Hall and Water Treatment Plant. You will be living in furnished accommodations within walking distance of the school. We have moved into a brand new school with bright classrooms. All classrooms feature an Interactive Board and computer accessibility with students having access to laptops. We have a supportive experienced staff who are very professional in all aspects of their work. We have a supportive school community.
