The ideal candidate will have:------------------------------------------------------------- Bachelor of Education Degree with post baccalaureate in counselling or a Masters in Counselling and/or Bachelorof Social Work- The ability to plan and deliver a comprehensive counselling program that provides supervision, guidance andinstruction for students in their social, academic and personal lives.The counselling of students is an integral component of the education mission here at R.D. Parker Collegiate. Thesuccessful candidate must be confident performing the following duties and responsibilities:- Holding meaningful and insightful conversations with students, faculty and parents, and mediating communication between these groups.- Proactively identifying methods for growth, development and mentorship.- Referring students for scholarships, internship and other academic and employment opportunities.- Assisting students with scheduling to build a path to graduation.- Planning and organizing classroom counselling sessions to address career, academic and personal issues amongstudents utilizing community resources.- Establishing and maintaining ongoing professional relationships with school staff, clinicians and othercommunity service providers who work with students in and out of the school.- Supporting students to identify effective ways to deal with habitual truancy.- Experience relating to crisis intervention and therapeutic support for students dealing with challengesincluding, but not limited to, suicide prevention, trauma recovery, mental health, substance use/abuse, harmreduction, anxiety, depression, abuse, developmental trauma, post-traumatic stress, child protection, mentalhealth diagnoses, family issues, grief and loss.Crucial to this position is a commitment to culturally proficient education and a knowledge and sensitivity to thetraditions of students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.Applicants are asked to provide copies of their certification.Wages include one of the most generous packages in the province, and the rate of pay will be determined by ourcurrent collective agreement with the Manitoba Teachers Society.Moving Allowance may be available as per Administrative Procedure 2.A.040 available on the School District ofMystery Lake website.Inquiries can be directed to Jeff French, Principal RD Parker Collegiate at 204-677-6200. The School District of Mystery Lake welcomes diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from allqualified candidates, including women, Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities and minorities. Applicants may request reasonable accommodations related to the materials or activities used throughout theselection process.**Internationally Educated Teachers first step is to apply to Pathways to Teach Canada and select Manitoba as their province of choice (pathwaystoteach.ca)**
