The ideal candidate is a flexible, technologically proficient, dynamic, collaborative and inspirational educator who is committed to fostering a love of learning and literacy. The successful candidate will also play an active role in the co-curricular life of the school. This is a 0.8 FTE Temporary Contract position for the 2026–2027 school year.ResponsibilitiesManage daily operations of the Wentworth Library in collaboration with the co-Teacher LibrarianCurate diverse, inclusive, and engaging library collections (digital and physical)Library administrative responsibilities such as cataloging and circulation to maintain and further develop the extensive collection as well as maintaining the Library websiteInspire a love of reading and champion a reading culture within the schoolCollaborate with faculty and lead weekly library sessions for students Grades JK-7Provide expert readers’ advisory services to students, faculty and familiesGuide students and faculty in using library catalogues and research databases and e-booksRequired qualificationsA Bachelor of Education in elementary education with a strong literacy or English backgroundA Bachelor’s or a Master’s Degree with a specialization in Library and Information Science is an assetMinimum of 2 years teaching experienceA genuine passion for teaching literacyStrong classroom management skillsConfidence teaching both primary and intermediate aged studentsBC Teaching CertificationBasic First AidCanadian residency and legally entitled to work in CanadaOur “Must Haves”Respect, dignity and inclusion for all members of the communityCollaborative mind-set and courageous approach to adversityDemonstrated communications skills (oral and written)Creative “out-of-the-box” thinkerFlexible and adaptable and embraces changeProven work ethic with utmost integrityEnthusiasm, eagerness and genuine interest in all aspects of the school’s successSelf-awareness, with a desire for constant self improvement (goal-oriented)We offer professional development opportunities, competitive salaries, a generous benefits package, Personal Days, access to an Employee and Family Assistance Plan and access to a Health Spending Account, health and wellness initiatives, along with one of the most beautiful locations in Canada to work!The current 2026-27 faculty grid annual salary range for this position is $78,342 to $116,666 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education.
